Verith ("we," "us," "Verith") operates a job application tracker and an anonymous, community-sourced Company Insights section (together, the "Service"). This Policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who we share it with, and — because anonymity is central to how Company Insights works — what we deliberately don't collect or show. It applies to everyone who uses verith.co.
What we collect depends entirely on how you use Verith. We don't require more than the Service actually needs to function.
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Account & profile | Name, email address, profile photo, headline, work history, education, and any other details you choose to add to your profile |
| Job tracker data | Jobs you save or apply to, the stage you mark them at, notes, and answers to tracker questions (job description clarity, interview rounds, offer details, etc.) |
| Anonymous Company Insights submissions | Reviews, interview reports, and pay & benefits reports you choose to share — see section 3 for exactly what is and isn't tied to your identity |
| Connections & messages | Connection requests, direct messages with other members, if you use those features |
| Login & security | Sign-in method (Google or email), login timestamps, session tokens |
| Support requests | Anything you send us directly, e.g. a bug report or question |
We do not collect demographic data (race, gender, religion, disability, etc.), and we do not use your data to power advertising — Verith doesn't run ads.
| Purpose | Data used |
|---|---|
| Operate your account and job tracker | Account & profile, job tracker data |
| Show anonymous reports on Company Insights | Only the fields described in section 3 — never your name or account |
| Send you transactional emails | Verification codes, submission confirmations, moderation decisions — account email only |
| Prevent spam and abuse | Login & security, an internal (never public) link between your account and your own submissions |
| Improve the Service | Aggregated, de-identified usage patterns — never sold or shared with advertisers |
This is the section that matters most, so we're being direct:
We don't sell your personal data, and we don't share it with advertisers — we don't have any. We use a small number of infrastructure providers to actually run the Service, each processing only what's needed for their function:
| Category | What they do |
|---|---|
| Hosting provider | Serves the website and runs backend functions |
| Database & authentication provider | Stores account data and handles sign-in |
| Transactional email provider | Sends verification codes and submission/moderation emails |
| AI provider | Generates AI-assisted, clearly-labeled company "About" summaries from that company's own public website — no personal data is sent to it |
We may also disclose data if required by law, to enforce our Terms of Use, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Verith, our users, or the public.
We use a small number of cookies and local-storage entries. No advertising or tracking cookies — we simply don't have any third party to place them.
| Type | Purpose | Can you opt out? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Keeps you signed in, remembers your session | No — required for the Service to function |
| Functional | Remembers a local backup of your job tracker, and that you've already agreed to community terms so we don't ask twice | Yes — clearing your browser's site data resets these |
You'll see a one-time cookie notice on your first visit. You can manage or clear cookies at any time via your browser settings.
We keep account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal profile data; anonymous Company Insights submissions already published stay up (they were never publicly tied to your identity), but the internal link to your account is deleted along with it.
We use industry-standard technical measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections and access controls on our database. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security — but we don't treat that as an excuse to collect more than we need.
We don't discriminate against anyone for exercising these rights.
Verith is not directed at anyone under 18. If we learn a minor has created an account, we'll remove it.
If we make a material change, we'll post the update here with a new "Last updated" date. Continuing to use Verith after a change means you accept the update.
